I approached my mother when I was 8 years old and told her I was an alcoholic. I most fucking certainly don’t remember this, but I do know that I was blessed with a genetic dowry riddled with a predisposition for drugs and alcohol. From a young age I would take things that I liked and do them, and do them hard. Fast forward 30 some odd years, a stint in treatment, several relapses and way too many chances and I find myself here. Happy. Not quite content with life, But content with today.
It’s a vicious fucking thing, addiction. But life on the other side can be so so so very beautiful, and if you are reading this questioning whether or not you can live with and overcome your struggles, you fucking can.
